Dear Viewers and Listeners:
This month Fort Jackson commemorates its centennial, and SCETV pays tribute with the broadcast of Victory Starts Here: Fort Jackson Centennial. Airing June 15 at 8 p.m., the program features archival material and interviews with Fort Jackson and community leaders, highlighting the impact the Fort has had and will continue to have as the nation’s largest basic combat training facility. Mark Adams is the producer.
Michael Wood relates The Story of China, a fascinating look at its history, culture and stories that made the nation what it is today. Masterpiece’s My Mother and Other Strangers follows a family in Ireland during World War II. Big Pacific plunges into the ocean to discover dazzling creatures rarely captured on video.
Several popular series are returning with new seasons. The Great British Baking Show welcomes 12 new bakers to test their baking skills. Masterpiece’s Grantchester reunites Vicar Sidney Chambers and Inspector Geordie Keating for a new season of matchmaking and murder. Prime Suspect: Tennison highlights detective Jane Tennison’s early career, portrayed by Stefanie Martini in the role made famous by Dame Helen Mirren.
South Carolina Public Radio continues to bring listeners highlights from the Spoleto Festival USA through June 11. We are also proud to broadcast the 2017 Chamber Music Concerts in a quick turn-around, airing weekdays at 11 a.m. beginning June 2 on the classical stations.
We were delighted to learn that Charleston City Paper has named SC Public Radio’s Beaufort station, WJWJ 89.9 FM, as the “best talk/news radio station” for 2017.
Our summer is off to a busy start, but we couldn’t provide all of this without your loyal support!
